I was reading an article in the North London Primary Times which had an article about an educational consultancy. This article mentions "waiting lists for tutors", and says you should put your name down for one in Y3. Bit late for me as my DD is in Y4! Do I need to start sorting out a tutor now? How do I know if she is clever enough - she is bright, but against the competition, I am not sure?
Can anyone shed light on this?

It's a good idea to book a tutor early, but how should I go about finding one?

can someone upload any sample papers of the Latymer school tests. would like to peek into it before deciding to purchase the whole set

or suggest any links where i can view the past papers. many of the independent school have put the papers on the net, so i believe Latymer too would be available on net.

Does anyone have any figures for a) how many children sat the Laytmer test for 2012 entry, and 2) how many got through to the maths/literacy round? Also, I have heard that approximately 40 can expect to get in from the waiting list as a number of chidlren from the 180 places offered will take up private school options. Is there any foundation to this belief? Many thanks

Hi I know this is an old post but my son got in this year. Over 500 got into the second round. They had to get at least 70/80 correct. I think before places are allocated there is alot of movement. So if your child was in the top 250's they would stand a chance. However ther is not much movement after allocations day. My son has a friend who was originally 38 on the waiting list this year and when we last heard was still sat at 18. I think NVR and maths are the key to Latymer. Also with all the changes in the exams this year people will sit first and then decide if they put the school on their cafe. I think this will lead to less movement. As people will have a clearer idea a out the possibilities of their child passing and make more definite decisions. Good luck.

Where I am there are 600+ applicants for 96 places for boys, and this year it looks likely that there will be a HIGHER number of applicants per place as the catchment areas for the next-nearest Grammars have been changed. So it really DOES come down to area!
