Burt Reading Test

I read the post further down about reading and saw reference to the Burt Reading test which I had not heard of. I just had a look at it on-line.
Can anyone tell me more about it? Is this some kind of standard reading test that schools use or what?
I have always thought my daughter's reading was a bit behind but looking at the test and the scores, she would be above her reading age?

I'm a special needs teacher and it isn't one that we use at all. Ed Psychs may use it in assessments but I think as a one-off, it doesn't really provide a parent with very useful information - what will you do with the information?

I was just being curious, that is all. I am a firm believer in that she will read when she is ready and pushing her will just get her back up.
I just had not heard of this before and thought it was maybe something that schools use.

The Burt test is a good measure of decoding abilities, it does not test for comprehension. It can be used to give a rough idea of how well a child can read, but it tells you nothing about how well the child can understand the text.
Here is another similar one members.tripod.com/~gleigh/readtst.htm

Some schools will also use the Salford Test which is reading sentences and an age equivilant score is given...again it doesn't test comprehension.

I know my DD's reading age (school tested her) and it is very different to her comprehension level.
