how good is it for 6year olds?? I am aware every child is different. It looks impressive and we have an assessment in sat. Does your child go there, how have they found it?

Thanks in advance

"Anyway Seeker, I am glad if you have no worries about your children's academic progress. I'm pleased that they don't need anything like Kip McGrath."

what did I do to deserve that?????

Im hooked on headsprouts. lol What a fab site, and so affordable. Thanks Jollypirate. Im going to let my DS try the trial tomor, see how he copes with it. I think its definately worth the purchase even if he attends kip.

Hi, first time here so please be gentle! I am considering some extra Maths tuition for my just 8 yr old daughter (Yr 3). She is a very bright child, if a little too laid back, would much rather be climbing! But Maths seems to be a struggle for her, times tables are not making sense to her at all. She does have an older brother so we have something to compare her to. Have done Explore Learning in the past but didn't really get us anywhere, was considering Kumon but looks very repetitive and time consuming. Kip McGrath looks great (expensive tho...) A couple of questions for those who go there please... Do the children get any work to take home? A week seems a long time between sessions without any practise? Is it possible to pay with childcare vouchers to take the sting out of the cost do you know?

mumstheone · 07/02/2009 12:58

Some kip centres are OFSTED registered and you need to check of your local centre is. Then you will be able to get child care vouchers. Most of the learning takes place at the centre with a quailifed teacher to explain the work to the child. Kumon relies on parents and repetitive worksheets to teach the children. Its good if you have the time. But IMO if your car breaks down you take it to a qualified mechanic to get it fixed. If a child is struggling with Maths or reading then the best option is a qualified teacher. Kip McGrath do this and so do private tutors (although you will have to check this first).

chaliepud Yes Kip Mcgrath always gives follow up work to do at home.

I think it depends on the child and what they are having tuition for as to how much they get. My DD is having 11+ tuition there and gets between 15 mins to half an hour homework per week.

I think this will increase as she gets closer to the test.

kylesmyloveheart · 08/02/2009 15:20

sorry was trying to be funny. meaning it was going to be be too much for me but he so needs it so i will find the money.

how much is the Kip course or how much a session? do you pay weekly or in bulk i cant find it on the website. thank you

smartiejake · 08/02/2009 15:56

Kip is about £24.50 a session (80 mins long)but if you pay in bulk for 6, 10 or 20 sessions then the price goes down.

I pay for a block of 6 which is about £138.

kylesmyloveheart · 08/02/2009 23:37
