Should I send a note about this ...

Ds is in year 5 at a German grammar school. They get loads of homework and are quite strict.

I've gone and lost a blardy cd for his English lesson which he has to attend even though he is a native speaker. In the back of the work book there is a cd and the dc have to listen to what is being said and write it down or tick boxes, whatever. Anyway, I've lost the cd (was in our cd player and no one knows where it is now) which means ds can't complete the homework.

This is the English teacher who once sent a letter about ds having missing materials and homework when we knew nothing about it , as far as we knew he has always done his work and always packs his stuff the night before so can't forget things. Soooo, in a way, she has it in for ds already. Should I send a note in with him to say I've lost it (or we've lost it) and apologize and generally suck up to her or just leave it? The note would be in English as I don't feel up to writing in it in 'perfect' German.

Yes write a note. She then can't get huffy with your ds for not having it.

Juat say you have misplaced it and as soon as it turns up you will return it and your ds is in no way to blame,he has said he will get into trouble but you have explained that you will write to the teacher regarding this and therefore should there be any probs she will speak to you.

He doesn't have to return it as it goes with the work book that we had to buy but it's the fact that he can't do the listening homeworks (which he doesn't really need anyway but avoiding cause for teacher to be huffy is always best)

Does this sound OK:

Dear ms X, I'm extremely sorry to inform you that I have misplaced the audio-cd which came with the work book so ds was unable to complete number 4b. I can assure you , when I find it he will complete any missing work. Yours sincerely Admylin
