DD1 has a homework sheet to do every night, usually half an hours worth, no tick the right boxes anymore either, detailed stuff, as well as a termly project.
How much do your children get?

DS1 gets one piece literacy, one piece numeracy every week, both set on Monday and due in on Thursday. He usually does them both in less than half an hour altogether on Monday. Maths often only takes 5 minutes. He gets 20 spellings each week to learn for a test on Wednesday. He gets a project every term, which he gets a fortnight to do and no other homework during that fortnight.

DD gets 1 page of maths, 16 spellings and usually a page of literacy a week.
Also the odd optional homework which is usually research

Hmm, yes the homework and the project is pesky, one or the other is rushed.

These work loads sound DREAMY to me...

My Yr 6 boy gets each week (each subject assigned a particular day and in the next day) :

30 Latin vocab words
1 x Science exercise (last night 15 questions about molecules and mixtures etc)
1 x English (either comprehension or essay)
1 x maths (usually a sheet or exercise in text book)
1 x Reasoning paper
15 or so French vocab words
15 or so spellings

Supposedly meant to spend 30 - 45 mins per subject - more like an hour in reality

Also MEANT to read "for fun", learn words for school play etc etc

Not much fun for anyone really

My friends daughters are 8 and 9 years old, they get two subjects every night and it takes them an hour to compleate.
I thought this was a lot at this age. It's really hard too apparently. There Mum thinks it's a bit much.

Similar but may be a worksheet, piece of writing, design a topic related poster or leaflet, reading in preparation for class, Latin or French vocab taking between half an hour to an hour. Only English and Maths are usually due next day though, often they can have almost a week if due for the next lesson in that subject.
