When is your school "day"?

DS's (infants) school starts at 9am and ends at 3pm.

A friend's DD's infants school runs from 8.45am - 3.30pm.

I'm surprised that friend's school day is so long, but she is equally surprised that mine is so short.

THB I think that 9-3 is quite enough for infants, but interested to hear what is the "norm" in primary schools (I think the junior school here - separate school - does run for slightly longer).

R-Yr 4 (lower school) 8:50 -3:20

R and KS1 have breaks in morning and afternoon every day, KS2 only has an afternoon break twice a week I think.

8.55am - 3pm
50 mins for lunch.
Morning interval 15 mins I think.

DD's school is 8.45am - 3.20pm for all

8.55-3.15 for all. Infants get a longer lunch hour than juniors.

Reception 9am (doors open at 8:45 and you are encouraged to be there early) to 3:15pm. Not sure about breaks but afaik if nothing has changed dinner is 12 till 1:10pm and she has two 15 min play times.

Ds does 8.50-3.15pm
However he gets really long breaks.
Am break is 40-60mins
lunch 1hr15mins
sometimes they have afternoon break for 20mins other times not.

R & Year 1 8:15-3:00
Year 2 8:15-3:15
Years 3&4 8:20-3:25
Years 5&6 8:20-4:00

No idea as to breaks. Staggered times due to parking issues.

Infants 8.55-3.10
Juniors 8.55-3.15

The infants my son will be attending is 8.55am-3pm

here school starts at 7,25 and finishes at 12.45 for Ks1 and 1.00 for ks2.....it is Cyprus though so we do get to enjoy long afternoons together and fit in clubs, homework and tea at 6.00 easily...its just the 6.00am get up which is a killer!! (And for more sympathy thats 4.00 GMT)

9 till 2 here (Spain). That doesn't include lunch, which we eat when we get home. They have a half hour break with snack at midday.

Ours starts at 8:45 and ends at 3:25.
Teaching times are a legal requirement but different for KS1 and 2 so whichever school your DC's go to they should be taught for the same amount of time but might have different breaks.

I'm jealous of all of you with school days that end at 3.15 or later. Ds's primary chucks out at 3, so I have to finish work by 2.40. FAR too early. (Same time for everyone, from nursery to Year 6.)
