Primary Teachers - using drama to help teach literacy and numercy - what would you like to see?

I have an interview for a job which involves using drama to support literacy and numeracy in a primary school. I have to teach a twenty minute lesson before the interview. I would love to get this job and although I have some ideas of things I could do thought I would ask if there were any primary teachers out there who could tell me what they would like to see a drama teacher do in their school on this subject.

I am based in Scotland if that makes any difference to anyone. The group I have to take will include pupils from all classes so a really wide age range. Are there any areas in particular that it would be good for me to focus on?

For numeracy you could have a lost child who needs to be given directions over the phone. So go forward 4 steps, turn left etc as if they were a Romer. Depends on the age of the children.

When we have drama groups in I like to see it either relate to the own experiences or be really funny/spooky/scary.

Also good is a history topic where the writing focus is based on their literacy objective.

Def don't go in blind. Make sure you know their objectives for the day/week. The class teacher will be very pleased if you can work around that.

Good luck.
