Would you consider a formal GDTS that is going to become an independant academy ?

She has had a trial day and liked it but didn't want to move.
I have massive issues with her current school, not accademically but one of the dinner ladies has a daughter in DD's class and is bullying DD, unfortunately DD tends to tell tales so the head doesn't believe a word she says now which is utterly unfair.
Anyway she actually claims to have no friends, people she rubs along with but not friends.
So we were thinking of moving her, she's in year 4 to this school but we have no idea really what the fact that the school is not going to be private any more means, I would have paid to send her so am delighted not to have to but can anyone shed more light on it please or any experiences ?

I'm not quite sure what this means (becoming an independent academy) but it looks a good school from the website. If it is about to become a state school in your position I'd put your daughter down for it as surely people will be rushing for places if it ceases to be fee paying. Could you ring the new school and ask why it is changing status?

If you and your DH are really unhappy with the current school I would move your daughter.

i know a few people who have sent their daughters to that school since it was announced it was becoming an academy - i think you'll have to get in quick tho' ie before it turns academy (in Sept)as the junior school seems to be filling up quickly. no idea how academy staus will affect it - i suppose the reality is in the future it will be no different to any of the other girls schools on the Wirral and as it won't be academically selective, presumably not as academically successful as the girls grammars. i went to BHS many moons ago and it was a fab school - facilities are amazing. whereabouts on the Wirrl are you (i also have a yr 4 dd)?

That's funny because I was wondering the same thing, but my DD is in year 2 and no bullying. Not far from BHS myself.

It is changing because there are "less" children in the Wirral and it was deemed a good way to improve the general standard of education ( or something like that...)

If you want DD to go there, I think you should try now, because places very very rare. You might have to pay for the rest of year and then be OK in Sept.

Hello
I am in Irby.
I was thinking instead of having DC4 I might use the money to send the three I have there until September and then we won't have to pay.
TBH I think the girls would perform well where ever they go but I think the entrance exam for senior school might be less competitive than the 11+ so that would give me a plan B if we didn't get a place at Wirral Grammar, I don't really want West Kirby I don't think.
babyjamas I have a 4 year old too, just started reception, she's loving school thank goodness !
