It's normal for a Yr 1 child to have writing that is barely legible, or isn't it?

dd2 is in Yr 1 and turned 5 in August.
Her writing is terrible - still struggles with letter formation, very messy, doesn't leave "fingerspaces", no full stops.

Please tell me this is normal and she'll be okay? It's just that dd1 was so different and doing so much more at this stage so I don't know what to think.

Ds was 5 beginning of the month and is in reception. So he is only a couple of months younger than your dd2. His writing is very messy and half the ime illegible..however he is a genius to me

DS is Yr 2 and has developed the highly irritating habit of attempting joined up writing (which he has not been taught).

And this is on his list of spellings, so I don't even know what half of the flaming words are!
