I've had a few minor issues with dd3 who is in yr 1. The teacher was quite surprised when I mentioned that dd3 is one of the youngest ones (errr actually joint youngest 28th august).

I was just wondering to you normally try and make a mental note of who the "summer babies" are or not?

Not in my experience. I never know who is the youngest and who is the oldest! It doesn't always follow that the oldest children are the brightest either.......

it was about academic ability, more about the fact that she doesn't get what she needs to to better ie sitting still on the carpet - she is just young in her behaviour still. Teacher was aware that the joint birthday girl was an august baby but not my dd.

Yes. Am always aware of whereabouts childrens' birthdays are in the year. However, much more important to ensure provision is appropriate for all children regardless of age. Sometimes the August babes are amongst the most academic and mature!!

Just find in ironic because in reception it's a big thing, the young ones have to wait until last to start school and then wait longest to go full time and by year 1 it's ignored! I shall take it as a good sign that dd3 is holding her own in year 1.
