DD caused a bit of bother in school yesterday, she has now been told off twice by 2 separate people, and has been told to see the head when she comes back on Friday would IBU to go in tomorrow and ask them to just leave it now?

Bloody hell they are harsh - your dd has done nothing wrong!

The head referred to your family as what?! Who exactly was that too? If your daughter I'd have been on the phone to the LEA!
YANBU, your daughter made a genuine mistake...she behaved responsibly, did the right thing...and then, very bravely owned up to the mistake...the embarrassment for her, would have, in my mind, been enough! Agree with others that your XP needs to call, confirm the mistake was his, and end the issue...Do be prepared to hear the schools side though...I'd like to think that there is a degree of misunderstanding here.

she should not have been told off at all. It wasn't her fault her dad took it without telling her. Her Dad should go in or ring up and apologise for not telling DD.

I would also be making a complaint about being called a broken family. Teacher's can't go around referring to families as that!!

TwoFoggyToSee · 22/10/2008 14:46

This is very cleary a time when she needs someone to stick up for her I'm sure you will do a good job!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 22/10/2008 14:51

I'd be fuming if a teacher refered to my family as 'that broken family' I'd definately be complaining, loudly, to every one who would listen.

critterjitter · 22/10/2008 17:16

I wouldn't think that the office staff would have the authority to send your DD to the Head. They would have to refer it through the teacher or 'mention' it to the Head.

As for the 'broken family' comment - that's a disgrace, and should be reported.

Zazette · 22/10/2008 17:36

btw, I came back to say that I agree absolutely that no-one working in a school should ever refer to a family as 'broken'. Completely unacceptable. But your xp skulking like a schoolboy the head has told off isn't going to help anything. Assuming you want your dd to stay at this school, a fresh start in your relations with the head is surely a good idea.

I would have gone mad with her being told off once!

I would want an apology TBH!
