Please answer a general yes, no or middling and share their age. Thanks. I'm intrigued ...

DS1 aged 5 and Y1 - erm yes.

For the parent teacher meeting we were asked to fill in a self assessment form.
Q - what do you like most about school? A - lunchtime break.
Q- what are you good at? A - wrestling (and even in London state schools this is not part of the curriculum)
Q - what would you like to do more of? A - be the red power ranger mummy, Thomas always gets to be red and I want to be red sometimes too

So that would be yes, but not for the love of learning!

Ah don't worry! Our oldest loved school all the time - it's her incredibly social personality. My ds had some rocky times, he has Aspergers, but he is so happy now in Yr2 (and in Yr1) as he has the right support and absolutely brilliant teachers. Please don't think this is IT - it's not. There is an adjustment to make, but as he makes friends and finds his way, I'm sure he will like it.

piecesofeight - my DS is Yr 2 and until this year has liked school a middling amount, but no real problems.

This year, he has HATED it. At parents evening last week teacher says it's the structure he doesn't like - exactly as you describe for your child. He is clever and well behaved but when he gets into an activity he doesn't like being told to stop and do something else.

Due to the strength of DS's reaction, teacher has now told me he's going to have a session with a few other teachers and try to come up with some strategies to improve DS's experience of school. I'll let you know if he comes up with any pearls of wisdom!
