Worksheets for Yr 1

Hi there,
We're in India and dealing with a very different education system. I'm wanting to get some 'worksheets' to help my son at home - stuff like learning to tell the time, simple maths sums etc. I'm hoping I can print them out, and go thro' them with him. Can anyone recommend a website where I could download such things. Also, cursive writing... any sheets that show how to do the letters - preferably in a vaguely interesting way. (Here everything is rote learning and repetition... sooooo dull....)
Thanks!

primaryresources.co.uk has lots of worksheets that fit the UK curriculum if that is what you are looking for.

There are lots of other sites but I am out of touch and still go to primary resources when I need ideas.

is he in year one, or grade one? because grade one equates to year2 in england

those websites are good. i also remember getting some free downloads from the bond asessment books website.

I'm sure too many worksheets isn't good for anyone at any age. But it kind of depends what the alternative is. This week one of his homework tasks consisted of writing up to 500. We had to struggle to make that 'fun'!

oh god! that sounds so boring. if in a workbook.

ds and i used a huge sheet of paper, some scissors, colourful paper, glue, and cut out squares from the paper, wrote the numbers on it, and then did a hundred square with it. we also d ecorated with glittery bits, and put up on his wall. he loved it.

He finished Reception last year in the UK, and is now it Standard 1 India, equal to Year 1 in the UK. Here somethings are way ahead (eg the writing - they all do perfect joined up writing), but the maths is too simple... and the teaching methods discourages any kind of creative thinking. (e.g. Art consisted of teaching all the children how to draw a birthday cake. 34 identical birthday cakes were produced.) There is a huge amount of copying off the board.
I am trying to encourage him to do things at his pace.. and he is keen to learn the time. But at the same time last night I couldn't make head or tail of the Tamil homework... so he did what I thought was right. A neighbour girl - who spoke no English - and I speak hardly any Tamil - told me he had done it wrong. But not much I could do about it really!
