2 nights accommodation (YHA in the Lake District)
Aquarium visit
Trip on a steam train
Travel there/back by coach
Cruise on Windermere
Swimming at a leisure centre
Cruise on Derwentwater
All meals for 3 full days
Other activities include stream dipping, woodland studies, lakeside walks, etc.

Go on, how much? Have a guess! What do you reckon?

£125 ?? (no idea really!)

wordgirl · 30/09/2008 17:16

Well our Y5 trip is £160 without all the cruises/train rides/visits so I'd say a lot more than that

PandaG · 30/09/2008 17:17

£100 ish. Aquarium, cruises and steam train all expensive.

compo · 30/09/2008 17:17

£200

MrsWeasley · 30/09/2008 17:17

£250-£300

roisin · 30/09/2008 18:13

£80!
I've no idea how they manage to pull it in for this price.

It's not til May and ds2 has his birthday whilst they are there and I offered to send up a cake, but teachers said they will sort that out too!

dd1 is going to similar for 5 days for £190. You got a bargain!

cece · 30/09/2008 18:16

Is it SATs week - that would explain the bargain price?

jellybeans · 30/09/2008 18:26

That's brill, I paid £200 ish for 2 nights!!

ruddynorah · 30/09/2008 18:32

£80???!! that is a bloody bargain. where are they travelling from?

RupertTheBear · 30/09/2008 18:34

We do a similar trip in Y5 for £70. It is heavily subsidised by the school - the school pay for all transport and some activities.

roisin · 30/09/2008 20:09

Oh, dh just told me that the school get some sort of grant/bursary from the YHA because we are in an area of high deprivation

The thing is if they didn't keep it cheap not everyone would be able to afford to go, and it is very much part of the ethos of the school that everyone goes on the 3 residentials (yrs 4, 5 and 6).

Thats exactly the same for our trip - we have several different grants and bursaries and the school fund the transport - we see it as very important that all children get the opportunity to participate.
