reciprocated friendship in 6 year old

I?ve had some concerns for a while about my DS?s relationship with another boy in his class. They seem very similar and to get on well at school, they?re together a lot as they?re in the same groups in class for most things. But my DS is less forthright and I?d like him to play with a wider range of children ? but that said there aren?t that many boys in his class to choose from. DS has said on occasion the other one has been mean and said he won?t be his friend any more if DS won?t play with him. Do 6 year olds just say these things off the cuff ? maybe I?m taking it the odd comment too much to heart. Could it be that the other child has a more forceful personality than mine? I?m not sure if it?s because I?m not sure about the family ? not my type ? does that sounds awful? The other child?s mum is quite pushy about the friendship and keeps inviting him over. I don't like having the other over as I'm v busy, and they seem to just squabble. When is it ok to settle on a ?best friend?? Shall I talk to her about it?

You need to tell your ds "he can play with who he wants .A good friend would`nt do or say that"

I would put some space between them not always going for playdates around there

Try inviting others round instead

I think you should yo a large extent leave her to it - sounds pretty normal to me.

Just invite some others over, one at a time. Sorry, we are all busy and we all have to invite kids over to trash the house at some point
