What size school bag will I need to buy and where will I get a decent one?

I've been looking for a decent school bag for DS who will be starting primary 1 in August, but I can't see anything anywhere.
Where, oh wise mumsnetters, should I be looking, either online or in store?

we like argos for school bags. Just bought ours today

My children get that amount of excercise but I don;t see the need at 5 for them to play such complicated contact sports.

Tag rugby is optional in pre-prep as is football training. In prep from age 7 onwards it is different but mine get lots of excercise and the school consitnetnly wins sporting matches.
