if you give presents to the teacher, ie. wine, do you therefore buy 2 bottles,
or hope she/he shares?

otherwise i am thinking what an expense

Well then label the gift to the team rather than to the teacher lots of my parents do. As the teacher I certainly wouldn't be upset if I was by passed.

Not at all Mutt I just don't see what the problem is. Personally I find a heartfelt thank you is more than enough and to be honest makes me feel a whole lot better than a box of chocolates.

I did a thread on this recently as I bought the teacher and TA the same for xmas and friends were surprised I planned to do the same for end of term.

It's DS's first year at school and both the teacher and TA have been brilliant in their own ways. Its a shared room with Year 1 and Year 2 so the TA is heavily involved.

The TA was the one who sent me texts on his first full day school trip as she knew I was anxious.

They have both been lovely and DS has really come on since starting school, he's still a little shy but a whole lot more confident than before he started (no nursery year here so reception was a big change for him).

I've spent more than I will probably do for next year but felt they have really been excellent with DS and have put up with my questions and worries that i've had in his first year. Hopefully i'll be more chilled next year lol.

TBH, it has never occurred to me to treat teachers and TAs differently with respect to gifts. DD thinks they are all teachers anyway. And her favourite member of staff is a TA, who is technically allocated to a boy with SN, but has made a really strong bond with the whole class

But on the other hand, we go in for dodgy handmade cards/gifts lovingly prepared by DD, so no expense involved. At Christmas, I bought ALL the staff a box of biccies, and gave them on the day of the nativity play when they all looked very stressed.

Smithagain doggy handmade cards are the best kind.

I hope so, mrz. This year's offering is the dodgiest yet, but definitely packed full of sincerity!

it would never occur to me to treat teacher/TA differently. But then I go into class one day a week so have seen both in action and know they both work very hard.

At christmas I gave both a nice plate with home-made biccies and we got a personal thank you card sent through the post.

I don't know yet what I am getting for end of year but they will beoth be getting the same plus I will make biscuits to take into staff room for all.
