What is the point of ds's nursery school teacher coming for a home visit on Tuesday?

Is it (as she says)

a) because the children love it when she comes to their houses

and

b) so that we can discuss anything privately that I might not wish to discuss at school

or (as I think)

a) so she can look at my house and make a judgement

and

b) she is being a nosey bag!

This is sort of tongue in cheek as I dont mind if she comes over but what is the point?

Ds2 is 3yrs old. He will start nursery in Sept in the afternoons and will not give one hoot if she comes to his house or not. He doesnt start for another 6 weeks and will prob forget she came anyway. I have nothing private to discuss with her!

WWYD?? and WDYThink?

Staff aren't visiting to inspect homes the idea is that parents will feel more relaxed discussing their child in their own home and the child will feel happier meeting new people in their own surroundings than everyone trooping off to a building which for some adults still holds uncomfortable memories. The government has said in the new EYFS document that schools parents and carers must work together sharing information and support and home visits is one way of achieving this. Parents have the right to say NO no one is going to force a home visit on anyone.

My choice of the word judge in an earlier post gave the wrong impression. We are not judging parents, homes or children on a brief meeting but it is human nature when you go somewhere or meet someone for the first time to form impressions. Teachers are only human.
