then he sounds bored and like the teacher and he have had a personality clash.

and like he maybe has other 'issues' which affect his ability to get into school and focus on it.

That is very confusing, isn't it?

I think I would want to meet with the teacher/key stage leader and discuss the reasons for the contrast between her report and the assessments. Hopefully this may improve once he moves into the next class.

well, since hes v clever, but not getting on well at school, there must be something not working quite right, be it the school, teacher, him... and he deserves that you and they keep trying to figure out what that something is. stick to your guns and keep looking for whats wrong.

Sounds like your ds needs TA support to give him the 121. A report as blunt as this would surely then be grounds for access to specialist provision? Or,maybe he needs a more traditional learning environment with fewer distractions; I really do think sometimes pupils become too overstimulated, particularly in a busy classroom with lots going on.

Person from specialist teaching service may have been a dyslexia specialist...

hope you get something sorted for him soon

I would say dyspraxic. Aged 8, my DD1 would have had a very similar report.
