School Report

I am a bit worried about my childs development since reading her yr 1 school report. Her Targets state " she needs to work longer at tasks to complete them. Also to continue to practise her reading and writing in the holidays so as she is ready for Yr 2.
Other target " she should work on numbers to 20 in the holidays and practise sums regularly to be ready for yr 2." It also mentions that she finds it hard to concentrate.

Dh thinks I am worrying about nothing. I think it is saying that her english and maths is not at the level for a child about to start in Yr 2.
School has said we can discuss the report if at all concerned. Not sure what to do. I am going to make her do hand writing and sums but not sure how big an issue this is.
Should I speak to the school or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Dh thinks other kids will also have this type of thing on their reports but I don't think so.
Pls could someone advise me. Should I be a bit concerned.

I think you should make an appointment at school. You are clearly concerned, what's wrong with going to see them?

I agree - far better than fretting about it all through the holidays. It doesn't sound like anything very terrible, tbh - a lot of children struggle to concentrate at this age. Just see her teacher and say "I'm a bit worried about the report. Can you reassure me/give me more of an idea of what I can do over the holidays to help her?"

edamdepompadour- just don't want the school thinking I go into see them over nothing really. I had a run in with them last yr and headmistress was very nice but think they may feel I am demanding.
I am use to the scottish education system which is quite different. I just wanted to know if it is standard to put in "targets" on report cards. Don't want to ask other mums at the school "what did your childs report card say". Think that may come across as quite nosey. Although I am nosey so may have to.
I am going to make an appointment as it is concerning me.

targets are very standard in dds school
Well worth making an appt - you can say that you would like to know the best way to help her through the summer.
