Moving to Beaconsfield: state primary or private for Year 2 and Reception?

Hello ,

we are a family living in London - Kensington , and have decided to make the move for family reasons ( more space , garden etc - 2 small children 1 on the way ) . We have decided on Beaconsfield - loved the area and close links to M4 and getting into London.

wanted help on primary school vs private school
my DD will be in year 2 this Sep and DS reception .
we are one road away from the catchment of butlers court which we all really liked , and can see the children there. Long term plan for secondary is not necessarily grammar happy with independent secondary too as grammar is not for every child so we are flexible .

can any parents of beaconsfield shed any light on Butlers court , tutors - how easy are they to find . We have found a house on burgess wood South so old town .
I also looked into High March loved that they have a swimming pool onsite and languages they teach . But if moving to an area like beaconsfield is it really necessary to do private primary if the state primary schools are so great ?

any help would be great as we are hoping to move Ina. Few weeks and need to decide regarding schools . Thank you

@WeekendRambler I think it is really unfair for you to have named the headteacher and gone into such detail on a public forum. I have therefore reported your post.

I can’t talk to the angle on entrance exams (not the right age group) but as a parent at the school, I don’t recognise the description of EDI or comms style. The new head has been in post for one term. Hardly time to bed in.

If I were you I'd decide this on the school run, not the swimming pool. You're going to be on your own with a newborn in September so getting both of them into the same place, or two that are actually next to each other, is going to matter more than languages on the prospectus. Five minutes to Butlers Court with a baby in the car is a very different morning to pinging between Davenies and somewhere else.
You don't need private primary just because you're moving to Beaconsfield. Butlers Court has a really good name locally and plenty of families are happy there. The sticking point is the Reception waitlist. If that doesn't come through, High March and Davenies is the less chaotic private combo, but only if the drop-offs actually work for you. I'd go back at pickup if you can and just watch how the afternoon feels, that's usually more useful than another tour.

Davenies and High March are very close to each other! Easy to get from one to the other without a baby issue!
