Anyone else getting nervous about the upcoming primary school allocations?! And don’t suppose anyone has any intelligence on how application numbers are looking for Ewell (Surrey) schools e.g. Ewell Grove School / St Clements? It’s an anxious time so trying to prepare!

Very anxious. Not in Ewell, but we’re close. My first choice is VERY ambitious. Relying heavily on low birth rate but highly doubtful we’ll get it.

No Elmbridge. I doubt we’ll get our first or even second choices!

Really nervous time. How far away are you? I think siblings are going to massively impact things here as loads of siblings I hear. Do we think low birth rate might counteract this?

One week to go ! Although Surrey isn’t until 5/6pm

Accept what you are given.

Go on wait lists.

For reception with a class of 30, infant class size limits apply, so you can only appeal on very very limited grounds.

I’m so nervous - I live in an area where I’m close to one school but based on furthest distance it has previously been allocated - unless I live on the actual road, I have no chance.

A neighbour last year fell short and their child goes somewhere requiring two buses to attend to instead of the school that’s 10 minute walk to the local based on google maps but less if you power walk!

Dreading the entire process as I was super confused, didn’t realise a lot of the schools rated Good were actually higher ranked primary schools than many with the outstanding criteria. I tried hopelessly to try and get a school tour but due to have an operation I couldn’t do the few dates offered and neither school allowed for me to come at another time which is understandable.

Ive felt completely overwhelmed from just the application process and now the anxiety which will last for another week, has really ramped up.

I live in London and all the schools I’ve applied to are oversubscribed, so I’m feeling quite anxious. Last year, my first choice had 231 applicants for 60 places. I’d be surprised if she gets in, but I’m hopeful as we live very close.

My second choice is also unlikely, but I’m fairly confident she’ll get into our third choice.

I can’t wait to find out!

low birth rates don’t necessarily mean a better chance as many schools have historically above PAN but are reducing that.

You also don’t want a school that isn’t full, it doesn’t mean your dc will get more attention it means less funding.

@Kirby05 are you catholic? if so I think you are very likely to get a place at St C.

Kirby05 · 09/04/2026 13:30

Hi, no we’re not catholic. Hoping to get into Ewell Grove - but apparently there are loads of siblings…..?
