would you mind telling me exactly what a day would entail: a good day, a bad day?

I am thinking of doing this - looking towards training as a teacher but can't do it unless through a work based route

oh and if anyone is willing would you tell me what you take home, if you work as a full time TA?

thanks!!! I am off for a bit but will check back later.

Are you looking at secondary or primary?

I work as a TA with 14-19 year olds.

It is very challenging at times, obviously you work with the more behaviourly difficult/children with SEN, rather than with the top streams.

If I can help (i.e. you're looking at older children) let me know

I am a TA in a primary school. Each day brings something new. Most of the day for me is supporting groups of children in class, I also do displays, attend on trips, deal with behaviour incidents, do play ground duty. More recently, I have started taking classes due to gaining HLTA status.

Depends on the area that you are on how much you would earn. Wages tend to be anywhere between £7-£10 an hour where I live (east london)

Its a hard job to get into because its very popular, especially with parents with school aged children.

Its okay providing a lesson is planned or I have planned something for them. I have been at the school for a long time so all the children know me and do as I ask.

I really love the job and can't see me ever wanted to do something else, even when my own children have gone to Secondary school. Its a very rewarding (but underpaid!) job.

There is always the option to train on the job. I could train to become a teacher but in all honesty, after seeing their workload it just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.
