can't put it off much longer. DS starts school in sept. So where's best place to get school trousers?

M and S, Asda, BHS, Tesco's...... Nearly every shop does the same teflon coated type!

M&S are good. The last 2 years they've done a 3 for 2 promotion on schoolwear so might be worth hanging on until then.

Thanks

M & S

Sorry - my ds had m&s and Sains sch trousers and they didn't last. My ds is active and likes to play footy. I recommend Matalan for trousers that will see a boy through 1 full school year.

ChippyMinton · 13/06/2008 17:32

m&s 3 for 2 has started
they have several styles of trouser, one of them is in a thicker fabric, but annoyingly i can't tell on the website. My boys are football mad, and they last the year.

ChazsBarmyArmy · 16/06/2008 11:21

I went with the M&S with the adjustable waist as DS is tall and thin(ish). I didn't fancy having him faffing with a belt in reception as he tends to leave the loo until the last minute IYSWIM. DS is now growing out of them but they are fine otherwise after a year of reception.

M&S trousers for the adjustable waist for my tall and skinny boys. They grow out of them before they wear out!

christywhisty · 06/07/2008 22:41

3 for 2 is on at m&s now.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 07/07/2008 17:20

ASDA gets my vote. today paid £120 for a blazer and then went to ASDA and bought the usual trousers for £5 - they get passed onto DS2, and see to last fine till they are grown out of.

M&S trousers £3.50 and then 3 for 2 at the moment!

Don't buy the M & S cotton ones if you have a rough and tumble type boy. All 3 of the ones I bought have holes in the knees. Next year am buying teflon ones that come with patches. Have seen them at Sainsburys and John Lewis. (the latter are amazingly not that expensive, £4 ish the truform (?) make)

I didn't like the adjustable waist at all, the fully elasticated one was much better. When I adjusted it so he could pull them down ok they were too baggy at the waist (his pants were always on show). When I adjusted them for the waist they were hard to get over his hips. Its not as if he has some sort of hour glass figure! He is fairly slim and straight up and down.

trutex not truform

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 08/07/2008 14:28

MsA - lol @ the hour glass figure!

I've been very happy with Asda trousers - we did have a pair that went up the inside seam - think the rip may have had a bt of help and they replaced those too - no trouble.

We do have one pair of Ladybird - they're good too.

I do recommend snake belts (avalable on Ebay) for speedy toilet visits! Stretchy so you don't have to undo it.
