Broadway Cotswolds - schooling advice

Hi all,
We’re hoping to move to Broadway (we have family there) and would really appreciate some up-to-date advice on schooling.

Our son is 3, and long-term we’d ideally like him to go to Chipping Campden School or possibly The Cotswold School. We’re not keen on the 3-tier system, and my brother’s kids did St Mary’s then onto Chipping Camden, so we know it has been possible. But with all the new housing going up, I’m worried admissions to CCS from Broadway will get harder over the next 8 years.

We’re not against moving for catchment later if we had to — but we really don’t want him ending up separated from all his primary school friends.

So I’d love to hear from anyone local:

  • How realistic is CCS from Broadway now?
  • Do certain primaries keep you on the 2-tier route?
  • How many St Mary’s (or other local) kids usually go to CCS vs the 3-tier schools?
  • Has anyone moved for catchment or gone private — how did that affect friendships?

Any recent experiences or advice would be hugely appreciated!

There’s always been kids from Broadway go to chipping campden school. Broadway is in Worcestershire so feeds into the Worcestershire 3 tier system. As st Mary’s is a faith school it officially feeds in St Benedict’s in alcester which is the Catholic high school (although not sure how many kids follow this route) therefore goes up to year 6, whereas the other primary school in Broadway goes up to year 5. Birth rate is dropping so you shouldn’t have too much of an issue getting your child into campden. I know of people who’s kids have started reception this year who have gone to primary school in campden with the view to getting their kids into Campden secondary school.
You may be better off buying somewhere like Willersey which is just over the border into Gloucestershire so is in catchment for chipping campden, but walkable from Broadway.
From this area you wouldn’t get your kids into the Cotswold school.
If you were interested in private, your options are Worcester (day only) or Cheltenham (mix of day and boarding) There would probably be a few kids that go to the private schools in Cheltenham, I believe there is a bus from Broadway that takes them. Worcester travel options would be train from Evesham.
it is a lovely area and I’m sure wherever you choose to live you will love it, and we are very lucky in this area with our education options.

We live just outside Broadway and have a dc in reception (not in Broadway) but I can try and answer specific questions if you have any. Feel free to pm me.
