Teachers didn't realise my 3 year old escaped

My LO is in nursery and just turned 3, I drop off for nursery said goodbye made sure he was definitely in and walked off - Lo even hugged the teacher. As I was typing my friend a message I felt someone grab my leg I looked down and saw my child there. I was so confused because I literally dropped him off so I took him back expecting them to realise she gone! Nope nothing! So I went home in shock told my bf who wrote a email to the school.

The email itself was not nasty and we did not blame anyone! These things happen and I was there still so no harm done but we still had to say something as safeguarding was not done correctly.

he went back in today and they isolated him from the other students which I saw and commented on which I had a remark that he had left yesterday on her home which I replied yeah because noone was looking after him.

when I collected him they refused to tell me about his day and wouldn't acknowledge me! They turned their back on me too lol.

I said to my bf that we need to remove my LO asap but I just want to check I am not overreacting. It has really stressed me out and I feel sick with worry now.

He did also say he was really upset and noone would cuddle him 😭

You need to report this to your lado at the local authority. The nursery should already have done this. Similar happened at my friends childminder and they self referred

His comment at the end! I would move him ASAP, that's so sad.

It sounds like you’re under-reacting, not over-reacting.

I am not in the best health right now so need to be careful in respect of that. Funny enough everyone told me in my family that I was over reacting.

If he was mine, he wouldn't be going back.

They are spiteful people taking out their frustration ( at you being right about them not looking after a properly) on a little child. How sad is that. I’d tell them that to their face. And then leave. Poor child.

My grandson did this at nursery. Scaled the fence. Did it twice at school in reception. Again over high fences. Both were very apologetic.

We had an escaper in the family. He's climbed out of windows here. Amazingly strong and agile.

I'm sorry that the nursery were so unpleasant. Refer them if they don't address this loophole in their security.

You need to report this to OFSTED and the early years child care co-ordinator at the council. If you go on your council website you will be able to report a concern. Doing it that will should get it though to the right department. You could contact LADO but they are unlikely to have a role as LADO is person specific and this seems to be a system failure.
