Our child is in year 2 at school, she has 5 teachers!! 2 main and then 3 that come in to cover...is this common in Primary School? They are finding the first part of the week particularly challenging as Mon and Tues they have 3 different adults each day! One of the teachers suggested it is the work expectation rather than the inconsistency of adults that is the issue! I find ir baffling. Is it usual practice to have this many? Should I complain?

Are you sure it's all teachers?
Because it's easy to have a bunch of adults if you include classroom assistants and 1 to 1 support workers.

Yes it is all teachers. They have one lsa in the afternoon who covers 1-1 children x

The cover teachers or HLTAs are probably covering PPA which the teachers are entitled to. It’s really up to the Head how they organise staff and provide cover.
Everyone should be following the school curriculum, routines and policies so it shouldn’t be an issue.

Are the teachers for split subject lessons, eg they are going to one for a phonics set, one for maths and one for literacy? This is very common in private schools.

In my kids primary school they have one (or sometimes two teachers per class. Then there are specialists for PE, art, French etc. This year they are also divided into groups for maths (across the whole year of 60) so might have a different teacher for Maths.

So I’d say it sounds normal.
