Hi all, my DS8 is starting a school rugby team and has been asked to buy a pair of football or rugby boots. For those who already have them, they can carry on using what they have irrespective of whether they're for firm, multi or soft ground. As we need to buy new we've been told soft ground, but are struggling to find any decent ones (other than plain black). For firm ground there seems to be hundreds of choice. Is there really that much difference or do we definitely need to buy soft ground ones? For reference, I think they'll mainly be playing and training on the school field. Tia.

If you get boots with removable studs you can put shorter ones in for firm ground and longer ones in for soft ground. TBH, it is probably not going to make much difference for your son at his age, and I would just go with whatever you like.
He will grow out of them before you know it so I’d avoid expensive ones if you can!
If he is not fussy then I’d find some second hand ones - head down to a local rugby club that has a mini/junior section and they are likely to have a box full of used boots for sale.
