Help - would you change primary schools after 2 weeks?

Hi - My daughter got her 3rd preference primary school and started settling sessions last week with 3 half days and full days this week. She knew no other children starting and has settled really well and is so happy going to school.

For me, The school drop is logically challenging as my sons nursery is a mile in the other direction and no parking near my daughters current school .it has 3 private schools nearby so traffic is horrendous .

today we had an offer from the waitlist of our 2nd preference school . It’s near my sons nursery and on the way to my husbands office so would make life much easier . Several of my daughters nursery friends are also starting there .

should I move her? My husband says it’s crazy given how happy she is in her current school . I think if we move her she will be upset but settle quickly as lots of nursery friends would be at the new school.

would welcome your opinions and experiences of anyone who moved schools in reception please . The council only gave me 24 hours to accept the waitlist position . I’m totally stressed out over the decision.

Absolutely yes. I moved my son in May of Reception to the nearer school. It was worth it for all those years of primary school and subsequently his younger brother's to live nearer to school (especially when they could walk there themselves in Y6)

Absolutely move her. Primary school is a long old slog. She will remember nothing about it.

Which is going to be easier long term, it sounds like the current school is much closer so her friends would be more local.

In this area birth rate is very low in the current Y1 & Y2, with sibling priority this would also impact current reception class size.

Free flow is common and encourages learning through play. Both indoor and outdoor space matter what impact will that have in the junior years?

Not fussed about green outdoor space as long as there is a decent playground. In my experience expanses of green outdoor space only used for a few weeks each year

Thanks everyone. Leaning towards her current school as it’s nearer and one the nursery run goes away life will be simpler .

the other school was our second preference before we found out it had dropped a class from 3 form to 2 form. They were not getting the numbers ( south west London school) . The class my daughter would go into was slay a job share between 2 teachers which could unsettle my daughter even more if we changed schools as she loves her current teacher .
