Hey,
iam about to move to Scotland partway through the school year from England however the buying system is different so for 6 weeks or so while in the process of finding and buying a house we won’t have a permanent address so iam unsure how I could go about this with my children being primary and nursery school ages any have done this part way through the year and could put my mind at ease with info I’d be grateful

for some more detailed info on my end we are in the process of selling our house and waiting for an exchange date and need the money to start putting offers in a house in the area we like in Scotland my husband has a job up there already and unfortunately the exchange will happen mid year so I won’t have a house where I currently live or up in Scotland until we can complete on a house up there it’s making me lose my mind and my stress levels are high to say the least I am worried my kids won’t have a proper school education for that amount of time so iam not sure how to go about it as you need an address before you apply for a school.

It all depends where you’re moving to. In some areas it’s easy to get into the local school and in others it’s very hard. In a very popular area of a big city you would need to rent in the catchment you want and even then you’ll maybe be on a waiting list rather than straight in.
Speak to the local council in the area you want to move to and find out which schools have capacity and which don’t. It might make sense to base your temporary and even final house choice on the answers to that question to the council.
