Just that really.

What morning routine do you have for getting everyone up, fed, dressed and out the house at the right time, say leaving 745am?

I’m sorry your school does that, ours doesn’t.

What do they provide your children?

My top tip is whatever you settle on set up a run of alarms on your phone that keep you on track.

this also means it’s not Mum nagging but the phone alarm!! I’ve chosen different tones for each thing..

Mine have a subconscious response to the sounds now as we’ve been doing it for so long!! A certain song has them reaching for coats and shoes every time!

I like this idea!👌I'm bored of my own voice signposting the time every morning already 😂

DD has just started reception, and school is walkable, so we leave at 8.25 now. But for nursery we left at 7.40am. Up at 6.30, teeth done and feed the dogs. Breakfast at 7am, upstairs getting dressed by 7.20, out the door by 7.40.

the children’s routine is below, it’s worked for years!

Wake up
Brush teeth
have a wash
get dressed
eyes ( put contacts in for DS11)
downstairs
breakfast and drink
put shoes on
coat on a put lunch in bag
out the door!

I’ve always favoured getting washed and dressed before breakfast as there’s no messing about and being late, they can always eat a croissant and a carton of orange in the car but they can’t get dressed in the car!

I found with both my children that it was preferable to read their books from school in the morning, as they were always tired after school.

My daughter just started reception and having school lunches. Uniform is laid out ready the night before. We get up 6.30 and have a chat about things/she plays with toys in bed then around 6.45 go downstairs and have porridge. Then take her upstairs to get washed and dressed, teeth and toilet. My mums just retired so walk her round to hers (2 streets away) and drop her off 8.15 so i can get back to start work 8.30 (usually WFH). Office days i get up 5.30 and shower whilst she still sleeping.

Another with a series of alarms to move from one thing to the next.

When we started reception we did
Up
Dressed
Breakfast
Teeth/hair
Leave
As it meant not having it go back upstairs but we ended up with so many fights getting when dressed she just wasn't ready for the day and not cooperative

We switched to doing breakfast first which allows her to wake up and then she's better at the rest of the transitions.

Two sets of clothes are laid out each night. She wears a mix of skirts, pinafores and trousers. Trousers are preferred by her so we save those for later in the week when we need a quick win.

We need 30-40 minutes to get ready at a push I can do it in 25 minutes. I accept that part of the speed is doing some things for her. She can be a slow eater and gets bored of breakfast so I tend to spoon feed her the last few mouthfuls just to get them done and us moving on to the next task. I generally sort out with her which uniform she wants to wear the race her getting dressed as I go and get dressed myself. There are days when she's less cooperative and I get her dressed before getting myself ready.

Always leave 10 minutes for the black hole of time that exists on the bottom step of the stairs. I don't know what happens there but we can go from doing well for time to needing to rush in the blink of an eye
