Is there a thread already?
DS not even 4 yet, so bit mind-boggling to think of him off to school soon.

Thanks Mrz, will have a look on there and see what happens, failing that I will do as you suggest and drop my CV in to schools.

DD will also be starting full time from September, none of this easing them into it.

muppetgirl · 29/05/2008 18:52

I am looking forward to ds 1 going... he is so ready. In fact he born ready....

Ds 2 on the other hand is so laid back he's practically asleep.

Sidge · 29/05/2008 18:53

Riven I am worrying about shoes already! I have no idea where I'll find shoes suitable for her, she wears formed insoles and typical school shoes just aren't going to be good enough.

She won't wear skirts either so it'll be trousers all year round. Even in summer I imagine

muppetgirl · 29/05/2008 18:56

Am I the only 1 looking forward to their lo starting??? I'm also looking forward to having more 1-1 time with ds 2 who really does just follow on with the rest of the house's routine and ds 1's social life.

cazcaz · 29/05/2008 19:00

We also have the shoes issue as DS2 has insoles in his shoes, and I'm not sure how he'll manage P.E in his bare feet, (his inner ankle will touch the floor when not supported)Oh God I hadn't thought about that bit yet!

muppetgirl even though my ds has some difficulties I also think he was born ready. My older ds spent the first year at school in a complete daze!

amidaiwish · 29/05/2008 19:00

i am very much looking forward to it.
i'm also looking forward to meeting a whole new bunch of mums and for DD a whole new bunch of (hopefully!) friends.

she is very very ready too.

Romy7 · 29/05/2008 19:00

oooh no, muppetgirl I can't wait!

sidge - we're getting black piedros... at least I won't have to find baby blue or red polish, which is what madam insisted for her boots last time...

and velcro, so that at least they can get them on and off her quick...

and lol at least no-one will go home with her shoes by mistake after pe...

Romy7 · 29/05/2008 19:01

riven - does your lo wear shoes in her frame?

Romy7 · 29/05/2008 19:02

cazcaz - you can get piedro trainer type things as well...

cazcaz · 29/05/2008 19:02

I am looking forward to it, but not as much as when DS1 started for the reasons you mention muppetgirl. It was lovely to have some time with him without thinking about picking up from play school, and entertaining an older child.

Clayhead · 29/05/2008 19:03

My ds starts in September. I am dreading it, he is very excited to join his sister

I will miss him.

I also also BORED of people constantly saying to me, 'I bet you'll be glad to get them both into school' and 'Are you going back to work?'. Bit like when you're pregnant and saying, 'Oooh, you haven't had it yet then' when you're the size of a house.

No I bloody well am not and no I bloody well will not.

Romy7 · 29/05/2008 19:04

just call me imelda

mrz · 29/05/2008 19:10

From experience I think you are probably right not to expect everything in place but at least you can let them know any problems so they can be prepared (such as shoes). See if you can get the OT and physio in ASP to give some input to the class teacher
cacaz the school should accommodate and allow him to wear shoes that will support.

Nemoandthefishes · 29/05/2008 19:15

ohh only just seen this thread so will have a quick look..DS is starting reception in sept and he will be 5 in oct so quite ready but dont know if I am as he is my first to go to school and whole days without him will be so strange

muppetgirl · 29/05/2008 19:18

I'm glad about that, I was begining to feel a bit wierd wanting him to go! He's just so energetic, perky full of the joys ect ect that I can't wait. He needs something extra as I can't keep up with him.

Sidge · 29/05/2008 19:19

Cazcaz our paed podiatrist has said DD2 isn't to do PE in bare feet as she pronates so badly - she too rolls in so much her inner ankle also touches the ground (makes me wince!). So trainers for PE indoors and out.

Romy7 DD2 can't have Piedros (too heavy apparently) so I will have to start scouring the country for decent school shoes in August! Love the image of your DD in her nailpolish-gloss-red or baby blue boots! What a stylish chick! My friend's DD had white ones that she stuck stickers all over so they had flowers and kittens on them!

Muppetgirl I couldn't wait for DD1 to start school 5 years ago - she was so ready and I was so excited for her. She has always loved school and does very well, so don't feel bad for looking forward to him starting.

Chocolateteapot · 29/05/2008 19:22

My DS starts school in September but has been going to be a "tadpole" in the reception class one afternoon a week for the last 4 weeks, so he's well on the way.

All going well so far and I love the school and his teacher. There is 5 school years between him and my DD and I am feeling more then ready for him to start - will be interesting to see what I am actually like in January when he finally goes full time. His birthday is shortly after they start in September and I think he is more than ready.

The only hitch will be leaving his lovely nursery. It's on a farm and really is idyllic and we will both miss it hugely.

DD was diagnosed with dyspraxia & hypermobility when she started reception so it hasn't been a smooth ride with her. I'm hoping that DS will just cruise through without any major traumas, well I can dream !

Fingers crossed that things go well for everyone but especially those of you who have children who will need the extra support put in place for them.

Sidge · 29/05/2008 19:24

Riven enjoy your freedom for those few hours

I know how precious time is for you so make the most of it. Lots of relaxation!

I used to be a teacher so it will be wierd being on the other side of the fence ds 1 has been at the school in the nursery 4 days a week since sept as he was ready then!!! so it won't be as much of a pull for him or me. He's already had to wear uniform and loves it and I've already had his teacher's name used against me 'mummy, Miss M said that so it's true' when he said India was greenland because it was green on his map.
