Sats score of 109, is it worth asking for it to be reviewed?

Just wondered if anyone has requested it? Only asking because I think a score of 110 would mean it was greater depth and would give DD a confidence boost to be have achieved this. We are so proud of her regardless but I think she would like the label of having managed it!

No just leave it. It's not GCSEs.

Those school labels.mean nothing. At secondary they do tests anyway and put them in the right sets

LeedsZebra90 · 14/07/2025 13:47

I wouldn't- but I'd have the conversation with your dd about her actual score, the cut off point has to be somewhere.

When did labels for SATs results become a thing?

Kindly, no cares the slightest what anyone got in their sats, please don't let your child think they are important

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 14/07/2025 13:53

Honestly no one gives a shit. I either
dont remember or we didn’t even get scores.

Glystl · 14/07/2025 14:09

She knows they're not important and it won't make a difference to secondary school anyway. They do know all about the grade boundaries from their mocks but it probably wouldn't make a difference anyway! It's just that she's dyslexic and despite this almost got GD in reading, I know it would make her feel good to be able to say I did this, rather than I nearly did. Anyway, it's probably best to focus on next challenges at secondary, of which I'm sure there will be many 😨Thanks all!

The higher your SATS score the higher your gcse predictions will be. For various reasons my child’s sat score was probably lower than it should have been but they spent secondary school with their teachers being thrilled that they were exceeding their targets, their friend who got great Sat results only ever met or fell short of their high targets and found it very demotivating. I encouraged my younger children to do badly at SATS!

Belished · 14/07/2025 15:16

Our school do set mainly in y7 for maths just from sats.
But english makes little difference except to gcse targets.
English is probably less likely to be marked wrong.

I think around 25% get over 110 so 109 is very good either way.

spanieleyes · 14/07/2025 15:50

For maths, the difference between 109 and 110 can be up to 3 marks, although just 1 mark for reading. It is HIGHLY unlikely that you could find 3 incorrect marks, especially on a maths paper. Reading is more possible but still Extremely unlikely to be found, the markers are pretty accurate!

But she didn't do it, she nearly did 🤷🏻‍♀️
And it doesn't matter. Please don't embarrass yourself and her by asking for a remark.

I wouldn’t do it. Celebrate how well she has done and that will give her a confidence boost. Our school shares termly assessments with marks for kids to take home, no one even discusses it.
Working at greater doesn’t mean anything really - I am mom of a child who was working at greater depth in all subjects all through primary school. It meant nothing to my child or her friends.
