Would you move your child to a different school?

Hi all,
I’m torn and would love some advice.

My daughter is 5 and starting Year 1 in September. She’s currently at a good school that’s a 10-minute cycle or 40-minute walk away. She’s quite shy and tends to stick to her best friend, though she knows a few others.

We’ve recently moved and now live 3 minutes from another equally good school. It would make life much easier logistically to have her at the local school.

BUT — we moved abroad for a year and only returned last year, so I’m worried about disrupting her again when she’s just settled.

What would you do? Stick with the familiar or make the switch while she’s still young?

Thanks

I would make the switch, assuming you are planning to stay where you are now.

She's still so young so I'd definitely swap.

I'd swap at that age.

We moved later in primary school with a similar distance and didn't move DD, which was the right decision at the time for her, but the extra school run got quite tedious very quickly!

Also, we've hardly met anyone near our new house as most people with children are at that primary school!

Swap, my DC didn’t have the same friends after year reception / 1. The friendships are more fluid at this age. Move before they become more concrete

If you're sure you're likely to stay at this new house if make the switch, for the convenience of it being so local. She's young enough to adapt quickly. They become much more set in their ways and their friendships as they get older.
