Best primary schools near Newton-le-Willows?

We’re looking at primary schools in Newton-le-Willows and the surrounding catchment area and keen to feel out other people’s opinions/experiences? We’ve noticed the better ofsted rated school is catholic and we aren’t religious.

We’re looking for:

Strong academic standards (somewhere with high expectations and where the children are encouraged to reach their full potential), engaged school community, inclusive and diverse environment, positive peer environment, and good extracurricular opportunities.

I was fortunate to attend an excellent primary school in a completely different area where there was a real culture of learning, high aspirations, and strong family involvement. The children were lovely - supportive of each other and genuinely engaged with their education. I’d love to find something similar for our daughter.

Has anyone had experience with schools in the Newton-le-Willows area that might fit what we’re looking for? Any insights about the school culture, standards, and community feel would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks so much in advance!

Join the local Facebook groups and you’ll get loads of recommendations. I think Wargrave is often spoken highly of, but it’s a frequently asked question on the groups and you’ll have a much more relevant audience than MN.

Although I advocate for St Mary’s, which I imagine is where you’ve dismissed on religious grounds.

That’s assuming you mean N-l-W Merseyside, not Yorkshire.

Thanks, really helpful! I’ll also make a facebook post. It’s actually St Peter’s we weren’t sure on. We’d be completely happy for her to attend a religious school but assumed we would be less likely to be accepted without connections to the church.

I know it's very far off but I'd consider the secondary school options when choosing your primary as Hope Academy would be a big no for me.
