sorry done to death - 'schoolwear code' options at primary?

Our primary is consulting on introducing a 'schoolwear code'. This isn't a thread about opinions on uniform - I know what I think about that (that I don't know what I think ). However, they are asking for ideas if they DO introduce a schoolwear code, and I would like to know if there are any options I haven't thought of?

i think they should go for 1 colour (what's the point of uniform otherwise) and should leave pretty much all the rest open - just grey bottoms, green tops or whatever. Does that work? Do you have that at your school and is it a pain? Do they in fact have to be more prescriptive? TIA

Mine had a grey trousers / skirt / shorts / pinafore with red polo shirt with school logo and a red sweatshirt / jumper / cardigan / fleece combo. Black shoes. I liked it, nice and easy and straightforward, and bright red generally suits all colourings (at least according to my colour consultant). Now we are in the States there is no uniform, and things do seem much more of a free for all (probably many factors involved). For sports they have blue shorts and then house coloured t-shirts, which also looks fine, so I think blue trousers options would be good. ds was always ripiing his trousers so jeans would have been good for him. Plain tops are hard to find though. School printed t-shirts are quite fun - all the summer clubs have them here.

DS's school has a formal uniform & his sports stuff includes a white polo shirt.
White polos = nightmare for active messy kids so far I have tried everything short of bleach to keep it clean without success so as its half term I am going to take a chance on bleaching it. As another poster said try to avoid white polos if you can.

riven,

My son who has no walking problems now managed to get out having to wear hideous plimsols. My son still walks on tiptoes, and our paediatrian felt that he needed good quality width fitted shoes.

I am sure the school can not legally force your daughter to wear shoes. If necessary get your daughter's child physio or paediatiran to write a note to the school.
