Primary schools in Salisburys vs London

I am in a difficult situation, we live in London and my daughter is starting reception , she got accepted in a school that we absolutely loved.
but my husband is changing Jobs and his new Job is in Salisburys! I have no idea how schools are like there but read a lot of negative things online.
School is priority to us and I dont want her to loose the chance of better education because of this move.
Husband suggests looking for areas with good schools around Salisburys for example in Southampton but I have no clue. Can you please advise on where to settle as mentioned schools and family friendly areas are the main priority. Thanks

Wilton? It's a nice market town 10 minute drive/15 min bus to Salisbury. It's got a good, friendly primary school Home | Wilton CE Primary School (Despite being a CofE school it takes children of all faiths or none).

If you can afford it, and 25 miles is ok, look at Chandlers Ford and catchment for Hiltingbury infant/ junior then Thornden for sec school. Or look in Hampshire generally and avoid Salisbury grammar school stress.

Look into the new forest and all the great village schools there

I live in Salisbury and we have an excellent selection of primary schools here. We also have some great prep schools, including Chafyn Grove, Cathedral School and Leehurst Swan. Honestly I don't think you can go too wrong!

Salisbury has great schools . Downtown is a nice village with good primary and secondary schools. There are grammar schools too.

I would not be looking in Southampton when you could be in Salisbury! Lovely schools and lovely place to being up a family!

Ringwood isn’t far, it is lovely round there / Verwood all good. there is a beautiful Primary School in Brockenhurst overlooking the green near turning off for Ober Corner. This little school looks idyllic although no idea what it is like.

What's your budget? Is his job ever likely to move back to London?

With recent government policy introductions, good schools will be under even greater capacity pressure than last year. Maybe rent temporarily where you want her to go to school til she gets her place? Good luck choosing.

We live in a small town next to Salisbury, can’t recommend the area enough. Have been here for 15 years and have teenagers. We are awash with good schools, there are the grammar schools (we avoided as I don’t agree with grammar schools but that is another thread!) and also Trafalgar School in Downton and Burgate School in Fordingbridge. Children from Salisbury go to both. Primary school wise there are many lovely primaries in the villages around that are highly rated for example Wilton, Gomeldon, Downton and so on. Romsey is another option, a nice market town but I am not sure on the school situation there.

Salisbury is lovely. I work with children in camhs and the schools are some of the most supportive I’ve worked with. I travel in from Verwood on the edge of the Dorset / Hampshire border and half hour to Wiltshire.
It really is a nice part of the world. I certainly would not say the same about Southampton. Many parts of Southampton are rough (not saying everywhere doesn’t have a rough bit, but Southampton has many). Do not had to Southampton if you value supportive education!
