Hi!
really hoping for advice and as much information as possible to assist me with an infant class appeal. I have read previous threads and this exact issue happened to another user

I submitted my child’s reception school admission online and when I logged in to ensure I was ready for the results day it said application not submitted……,can you even imagine my heart break.

we live in the catchment for a fantastic schooled enquiries so far have revealed she would have indeed been allocated a place.

i am appealing on the grounds of a technical glitch. The system shows all of my activity and information I uploaded to the system.

had anyone been in this situation? Any advice to offer. Postiive only! I know my chances of appeal are extremely slim

thank you for reading so far

I think that’s a really good point @MarchingFrogs. If it says on the application that you will get an email, and you didn’t, and you didn’t do anything about it, that’s going to be the end of it.

If you have proof the application was submitted which you’re saying you do, then you shouldn’t even need to go to appeal. But this proof can’t be “I definitely remember pressing submit”, it needs to be a screenshot showing your submission or something similar.

Have you submitted a late application and been allocated a place now, even if not at any of those you listed? Agree you need proof that you did follow the submission instructions, not just complete the form online. If a system error occurred then getting a place should be straightforward but it sounds as if you have no evidence like screenshots of the submission confirmation page.

I note you have started two threads on this. To repeat my advice on the other thread, an appeal is unlikely to succeed unless you have evidence to prove you submitted your application - a confirmation screen or email, for example. The panel will not simply take your word for it that you pressed the button. Unless you have evidence or there is evidence of a widespread problem affecting many parents, you are unlikely to succeed.

Obvious question but are you on the waiting list for the school you want? You will probably be very high or even top.

Make absolutely sure you are on the list and keep phoning up to check where you are on it / that they haven’t taken you off it.

All you can do is put your child on the waiting list for the school you want, and hope there is some movement of other children in and out the school

I haven't had to appeal but people I know who have haven't won their appeals (one was appealing with a child with disabilities to go to a better provision school as well and they didn't win).

Unless anyone else had a technical glitch I dont think anything you do will help your situation in terms of the appeal

There’s some very negative and condoscending responses. Positive posts and advice need only reply!

Always remember which site this is.

I have seen this situation many times when on an appeals panel. As others have said a receipt proves that it has happened (and I have seen parents provide one and win the appeal) .

There will be a log of activity on the admissions portal. You can ask for it. It may show submitted. I have also seen cases when a parent has gone back to the application after it was submitted and made some changes then not resubmitted it.
