Leaving primary school

My daughter is leaving primary school in July to go to secondary school, it's been an amazing school for her, so friendly and caring and I'd like to give something back.
I don't feel that the usual thank you teacher gifts are enough, after all would I buy one for EVERY teacher? Since it's the last time she'll go to that school I want to do something to thank everyone in a way.
Anyone got any ideas? Maybe a big card saying thank you to everyone and a donation to the school?

That's very kind of you! I would do a donation.

DD goes to a fee-paying school and I'm not rich so we won't be doing anything like that, but if we were in a state school that DD thrived in and that we are so grateful for, I would definitely donate in the thousands!

She has a few special needs, small opticians nerve FAS, she's adopted I didn't do the damage, so she needs one to one.
Her school is a small church of England school and its like a family, they really care about the children, they aren't just doing a job, and she's been sooo happy there.
It's such a shame she has to leave.

Sounds like a lovely school. Your daughter is very lucky to have been there 😍

How about a donation to the school library? Ask them if there are any books you could buy?

Letter(s) to the Head/Governing Body/Diocese might also be a good idea. Would make a nice change from complaints I'm sure!

Parents at pur school have donated equipment for sports, books etc...... one family donated a table tennis table for the kids to play on. That went down well.

Ask the HT what particular thing would be useful.

What a lovely post. It depends if you want something for the school or staff. If it’s for the staff I would get a delivery of doughnuts or a small voucher for them each (obviously it depends how many there is). If it’s for the school then books or sports equipment would be good.

A donation to the school is a lovely idea, but it’s something you do to benefit future children, not to say thank you to your child’s past teachers.

You sound very thoughtful and kind so you probably already did end of year gifts to thank previous teachers. I don’t think you need to do any more than that for this years teacher.

If you’d like to thank people other than the class teacher and TA properly, do individual cards. Or do one big one to go with biscuits or cake or something for the staff room.

I did an email to the head to thank her for an amazing school experience for my children. I wrote a card to a teacher my son had in year 2 because she was the one who made him believe in himself and his confidence from having her as a teacher set him on a new trajectory at school. She called me names because I made her cry. I did volunteer in school so I had a lot of dealings with her so it was all in jest. I still think about her and Ds1 is now 22.

I also bought things for the classroom, so glue sticks and white board markers because I knew that was what they needed rather than individual teacher gifts. They all say they love a card from the child unless you know specifically what they like. I also thanked the TAs because they do loads too and hardly ever get a thank you.

Couple of years ago a group of 4 of our Y6 children together decided to 'twin' the school toilets as a leaving gift, which I thought was quite different and novel! The certificate is displayed at child eye level on the way into the school toilet facilities. Makes me smile every day, their parents were quite clear that the children had the idea, nowt to do with them. Makes us all proud how kind and thoughtful they turned out, and still reminds us of them now, rather than another thing that gets used and is gone. 😊
