Moving from California - Prep for Year 3 Assessment @ Rokeby Help!

We’ll be relocating from California to London this summer, and our 7 year old child will be attending a Year 7 assessment interview at Rokeby in June. Since the US system is a bit different, I’d really appreciate any insights on what to expect from Rokeby’s entry assessments and any advice on general prep for it

Much appreciated!

If you wanted to PM me your details I could put you in touch with an Education Consultant who may be able to help. I do this but don't work in London but I know peoplee who do.
Its not a free service though
You could also try and post on here in Private Education to see if any other parents know the school

I think you are referring to the 8+entrance test if son is 7 yo. If it's being conducted in June, then it will be shorter.
The assessment-when done in Nov- usually consists of written papers in English (creative writing with some spelling + grammar) and Maths, a computer-based Verbal/Non-Verbal Reasoning paper, a group Music/Drama activity and an informal interview. It seems your son may sit a CAT4 test and interview only as it's for an occasional place. I'd be happy to help if needed. MentorStudio

I have a child at Rokeby, I have nearly left at least 3 times and frequently regret not leaving. We had a place at Rowans and hear lots of good things about it, also Donhead and Shrewsbury house I would recommend above Rokeby.

My DS is absolutely thriving at Rokeby! The 7+ process was smooth, as he took part in a 2-day assessment consisting of a written English paper, maths paper, and a verbal and non-verbal reasoning assessment. He also had an interview, which he was fully prepared for from answering mock questions. His teachers are incredibly supportive and really know how to help him academically, which has improved his confidence. He's made such incredible friends and is part of the football team and chess club, so he gets to play in a lot of matches against other schools. We are so happy with the school and have seen him grow massively during his time there so far.
