Apps/games for improving vocabulary

My daughter is getting ready for her 11+ exam. Are there any games that she can play to improve her vocabulary. I came across Word tag by Mrs wordsmith but that seems very expensive. Has anyone used it ? Or anyother recommendations please ?

We tried quizlet for flashcards, she is not enjoying it much

She just needs to read different types of written information/stories. At that age I was encouraged to read a newspaper article each day as that tends to have a different style of writing.

Wow, Amazing that you read newspaper !

My daughter is bright but doesn't want to sit down and focus at all. So thought will try some games for her to make it more interesting for her

Just reading and having a notebook by the side of her bed to write down words she doesn't understand will help.
Classics like Pride and Prejudice, Tolkien etc. Then more modern texts like Hunger Games.
The Week Junior is good. Guardian is the best Newspaper wise (and free online)

Otherwise games like Wordle are good over a long period of time.

I really don’t think Hunger Games is suitable for a 9-10 year old (or Pride and prejudice)

My 10 year old has read both. I read everything first and any questions she has, we discuss together.

Pride and Prejudice we read together.

Which bit in P & P do you think is age inappropriate in an Austen novel? She is well known for having an aversion to romantic language so it's hardly fruity.

I don't ban or limit literature here.

My daughter does like Wordtag. It is too expensive normally, however, we did the free trial and were then offered the whole year for £14.99, which is much more acceptable!

I just mentioned this in another post but imho, spending time and money with apps is of very limited benefit.
