Primary schools in Kendal

Hiya we’re moving to Kendal for work, would love to hear views on primary schools as we’ll base our house search around the school, thanks! Our LO is Yr 4 and quite shy so maybe a smaller school will be better. TIA 😊

There was a previous thread in this which basically agreed that there isn't a bad primary school in Kendal, although some concerns that perhaps Vicarage Park might be a bit " happy, clappy " heavy on religion!

You could message on a Facebook group Kendal everything which might prove useful .

They are all fine. Find a house you like and go to the nearest.

If you don't mind being a bit out of the town centre most of the village schools around Kendal are good and pretty small.

Good luck with the house search - what's your budget/ requirements

I really wouldn't worry about schools until you have decided on a property and where you buy (renting in Kendal goes through phases of being virtually impossible) is likely to influence which schools you choose.

There's quite a lot of 'snobbery' in Kendal about certain areas which if you looked on rightmove would seem like perfectly decent family houses with good gardens.

The main ones I can think of would be Hallgarth, Kirkbarrow, Rinkfield and Sandylands - however all of them are right beside 'naice' areas as well (e.g. Hallgarth and Kendal Green) and have nice bits dispersed through them so it's not even a case of being able to look on a map for a particular area.

If you are looking at new builds look very closely at the flood maps. Some of the new developments have been built in areas that were previously flood plains that regularly flooded. There are new flood defences being built at the moment but it's unlikely to make much of a difference to those areas.

Hi great thanks really useful. Yes we walked through some of Kirkbarrow and it seemed fine really, like other council/ex council estates..
