Hi! I will be moving to London with two daughters - a 1- and a 10-year-old - during the summer of 2025 and spend the next academic year there. I will most likely be visiting LSE, and we are now trying to navigate selecting a neighborhood, finding a rental, and of course, a school for our older daughter and a nursery for the younger one. A friend suggested this forum and linked a conversation started by another mom. The answers were amazing and super helpful. So, let me try to replicate this here.
Since we will be in London for 1 year, wait lists and hopes for "next year, better school" are out the window. We would like to minimize commute, say 30 minutes or so to LSE (hopefully tube, something that is more reliable), and preferably somewhere close to a park and a few coffee shops, and a good commute to e.g., The British Museum. We'd like to have our older daughter in a challenging academic environment - where we move from she is always in "top sets" for Math and English, and we believe that being surrounded by smart peers would help her gain perspective, and understanding that there is a "much bigger pond" out there in the world :) If she could continue swimming, that would be a plus (but I feel like we have enough constraints already). The place should be one with nursery options. Budget, say 3500 pounds, we could increase if needed to find a place with good schools in high density so we'd get into one of them. Which neighborhoods should we consider and why? And where should we look for apartments? Thanks in advance!
