My 7 year old son had indoor PE today, shorts t-shirt, bare feet, no problem there. They do PE in the hall straight after lunch. He slipped on some food that had been missed by the dinner ladies and went flying, he has taken skin off in 3 patches of one knee, (looks like carpet burns) it's a wooden floor, has banged his hip and elbow which are both bruised.

He got up didn't cry, but tried to tell the teacher who didn't see him fall she told him to 'stop fussing' he then went to tell the ta who started to listen but then another child starting talking to her and she turned away from him and never asked him after that, what he wanted to say.I didn't know the injuries until we were on the bus coming home. What do I say tomorrow, there is a health and safety issue here as well isn't there? He said there is often food on the floor when they do PE.Would you be annoyed/upset if this had happened to your child. Both teachers are unaware of his injuries as his class teacher smiled at me when I collected him.

I'd certainly bring it to the teacher's attention and mention about the food but it's an accident so wouldn't be that annoyed. I'd also tell my 7yo to try to take notice of what's around. Hope he's feeling better soon.

I think it's a shame the teacher didn't listen to him - particularly if it meant that the slippery stuff wasn't cleaned up.

But be careful before you complain - you only have his side of the story, remember!

And I don't think a couple of bruises and a grazed knee can really be classed as"injuries" can they?
