Catholic Schools

I really like a Catholic Primary School near us. We aren't religious but if I had to pick I say we identify most as Buddhist.

Don't agree with a lot of Catholic beliefs but the general Christian ethos of teaching kids to be kind, decent people is fine. I went to a CofE primary and we go to a Methodist playgroup.

What are people's experiences of Catholic schools, how much of the teaching is 'Catholic' if that makes sense?

There are other schools I'm visiting but get a really warm, welcoming, caring vibe from the Catholic one.

They will vary. Some will work closely with parish priest for services and First Communion, others more community focussed. Often priority is given to those baptised RC and regular church attendance.

We use a Catholic school, husband and kids Catholic. Kids know a lot of the liturgy, stories, etc - and we don’t take them to church. School is overwhelmingly kind, with love freely discussed. I will not put them in a Catholic secondary (abortion is my red line!) but I think for primary it’s been wonderful. The school will be used to answering questions.

DD2 went to a Catholic primary school for years 3-6. It was very nurturing and I felt that they valued her as a person beyond the academic results that she could achieve for them.
Expect there to be prayers four times a day and Mass once a fortnight plus at the start and end of term. There will also be 2 1/2 hours of RE every week. We are communicant Anglicans so I was comfortable with this.
DD was very happy there and did well extremely academically.
