5 year old won’t stop talking

Looking for some advice.
we have a 5 year old son who has just started year 1. He absolutely loves school and never complains about going. He’s been back 2 weeks and we have now had a call from the teacher telling us that he is really struggling with settling back into school. He is disrupting lesson time through talking, it doesn’t matter who the teacher is even the headmaster, he will still talk to the child next to him. He will also not do the work they are doing and she has said she knows he knows the answers and he’s getting bored, but he obviously still needs to get this work done before moving on. We have had a chat but I really don’t know what more I can do, he is very chatty at home but it doesn’t really bother us listening to him chatting. Any advice or anyone gone through the same

I have a 5 year old who is exactly the same. The teacher at school has asked for a SEN assessment as she thinks he may be ADHD. My lad also struggles to go to sleep and wind down. Even if this isn't your lad maybe some of the strategies for handling ADHD kids may help your DS 💐

Thank you. I will have a look if there are somethings we can implement at home which will help in school

He's 5. It's so difficult because we all know that no 5YO is really ready for formal learning yet. Some will fit the mold a bit better but it really upsets me that schools jump to labelling a child rather than just giving them time and space. Talk with your boy, explain the importance of concentrating, give rewards/incentives if needed but I would be giving him at least a term or 2 in Y1before considering ADHD tbh unless it's glaringly obvious and you have your own concerns. He's just come from reception where the learning is much softer and more play-based to 6 weeks of no routine to what sounds like really full on days in Y1. It is a massive leap and school should realise this. There's probably only so much you can do
