Hi guys, I've recently applied with open university for a Ba honours education studies in primary education. OU do not offer the QTS (qualified teacher status) whereas other universities do. I have 2 little children so doing distance learning is best for me so I can become a teacher and better my life and my kids life. My question is how do I attain the QTS after this 3 year degree? Would it require more training at uni? For how long? Any help please thank u

You apply for a job that is advertised as suitable for newly qualified, that would give QTS at the end of completing the first year in employment. The OU should be able to answer this type of question and similar.

However my knowledge may be quite outdated.

The previous poster is incorrect. With a BA you would then need to complete a PGCE for 1 year at a university or apply for a training on the job type QTS such as Teach First x

Without QTS, but with a degree you would need to do a PGCE.
