My son got a place in a local primary school, I couldn’t get a place in the after school club so arranged a childminder but she has now told me she’s unable to provide service because of a family emergency and I’m stuck two weeks before term is about to start.
im considering trying to change his school to a school that has a place in an after school club but how do I even go about this in the holidays?
I literally have 0 help from any family and I’ll be completely stuck if I can’t get him a place. I’m really stressing about this and just don’t know what’s best to do 😩 I don’t really like the thought of a childminder it had been really playing on my brain since I arranged it but felt like I had no other choice
any help appreciated

Is it just for after school? There are babysitting companies (rather than a child minder) and you have someone who collects your child, takes them home and babysits them.
I think Koro Kids is one of the companies.

you need childcare. Are you in a school WhatsApp group yet? Ask if anyone has an after school nanny or childminder with space they would recommend, or if there is an alternative after school club. Badger the school for cancellations! Depending on money, consider getting an after school nanny just for you. And finally, if he’s not compulsory school age he could go back to nursery - perhaps ask school if his place could be deferred until later in the year. This may help them understand how much you need help with this.

Also in the holidays there are clubs, and you are also entitled to unpaid parental leave as well as annual leave, and you can do play dates to share the load. You’ve got this

The same thing happened to me when ds was starting school. I fortunately only worked 22.5h (3 full days) when he was at nursery, so after a long conversation with my boss, she agreed to 5 short days (4.5 hours per day). Is this type of thing an option?
