Relocating

We are relocating in the summer holidays so applying for schools to start September (We already have an address and pay council tax on the new house but haven’t yet moved in)
I have had no problem with my eldest getting into his chosen secondary school (thankfully!)

So we applied to the school we wanted (closest school by distance) and got declined due to it been full. The council have said they have to find him a place via the fair access for a school within 2 miles of the address. There is only 2 schools, the one we applied for and our catchment school which is 10/15 minutes further away - they are both full.
The council have said they are trying to get us a place at the catchment school - we missed the catchment for the school we wanted by around 400 yards 😣

The thing is we really don’t want this school, the ofsted isn’t great. It’s a church school and very religious (they say prayers 4 times a day which is great for some people but not something for us) Its a 35 minute walk and there is no way to drive, the roads are narrow and all permit parking- I wouldn’t have time taking my youngest to nursery the opposite way plus walking to school there and back and get to work on time.
I don’t really know what I’m supposed to do, do I just have to accept this place and maybe look for a new job that starts later? (I’ve mentioned to work and they are not flexible as we have meetings)
Is there any point in appealing if it’s not our catchment school and it’s full?
I am really stressing out about this for some reason and it’s not like me!

@ , how old is the dc that you can't get a preferred school for? Your post is not clear.
