Primary with strong pastoral care & disciplined academia

we have a child attending an average private school with less than ideal discipline in place around their communication to parents regarding curriculum, goals, etc. as well as plenty of chaos in the classrooms. Although they are quite responsive in their support of children who are facing any challenge, we know many schools aren’t, and so we highlight the importance of this to us as a family. We are looking to move him to another school based in West London. We prefer co-ed but willing to compromise as what’s even more important is that (1) they have strong pastoral care and (2) are good at pushing students to perform at their best, without killing their spirit or innate skill set. We have a mix of languages at home and our son enjoys music and swimming, but we’d love for him to test more than one sport before he decides on one. State or private are options but we aren’t sure what to do, as we are afraid of making the wrong choice for him. He’s currently in year 3. Thanks for your help.

You would do better to focus on secondary schools and then work back to prep schools that feed to the secondary schools you are interested in. Most prep schools publish where their pupils go onto on their website. You probably won't find much variety in the sports offered by Prep schools esp if you want coed.

Thank you! Any recommendations on good secondary schools with pastoral care.

As you probably know the secondary day school admissions process is very competitive. I would suggest subscribing to the good schools guide and speaking to parents at your current school in year 6 re the level of preparation given by the school and where the current year 6 children are moving onto.
For example if many are going to Latymer Upper for year 7 you could consider Latymer Upper prep school for admission for your dc in year 4 or 5.
